PDX Bearcats at the Oregon Food Bank

Get in the holiday spirit by giving back to your community alongside friends and fellow Willamette alumni at the Oregon Food Bank in Beaverton. By spending just a few hours of a Saturday morning repacking food donations, you'll help local families in need while living WU's motto, "not unto ourselves alone are we born."

Shift Description: Repack donations of frozen veggies and other frozen food into family-sized portions. Volunteers work in a room kept at 50 degrees and to keep your hands warm and cozy, we provide liners for your food-safe gloves.

Shift Requirements: Minimum volunteer age is 6; volunteers must be able to lift 5 pounds; volunteers must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for an extended period of time; and volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Safety Guidelines: Shoes must have closed toes (no sandals, clogs, etc.) and shirts with sleeves are required. Do not volunteer if you have cold symptoms or open wounds. Layers are recommended as temperatures can vary. Lockers are available for personal items but are unsecured, so please store valuables in your car or leave them at home.

Arrival at OFB: Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift. Click here for travel options and directions. The volunteer orientation begins promptly at the scheduled start time. For everyone's safety after regular office hours, the doors are locked 20 minutes after the start of the shift.
